Karen Zadoyan and Marat Atovmyan had Meetings with the Leadership of Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption
Today, on 23 May, within the framework of the 8th International Symposium of Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), Mr. Karen Zadoyan, member of the Anti-Corruption Policy Council, Coordinator of the Secretariat of CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of the RA, President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association (ALA), and Mr. Marat Atovmyan, Anti-Corruption Expert of the Coalition, Vice-President of the ALA, had meetings with the leadership of the Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption.
The Armenian delegation first had an official meeting with Mr. Kenneth WONG Kwok-hung, Director of International Cooperation and Corporate Services of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) of Hong Kong, Secretary General of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities, and representatives of the Management Staff Department. During the meeting, Karen Zadoyan presented the process of anti-corruption reforms in Armenia, the system of anti-corruption institutional bodies, problems and the scope of possible cooperation, after which Marat Atovmyan presented the possible mechanisms of cooperation, including the implementation of need-based training programs for representatives of Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Institutional Bodies and representatives of the Specialized Civil Society organizations.
Kenneth WONG Kwok-hung, Director of International Cooperation and Corporate Services of the Independent Commission Against Corruption emphasized the development of cooperation with the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia, including the organization of need-based training programs for representatives of the bodies of the anti-corruption institutional system of Armenia and specialized CSOs within the framework of that cooperation, by the Hong Kong International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA).
The parties discussed other issues of bilateral interest. The Armenian side will present additional details about the discussed issues in the near future. To establish an institutional basis for bilateral cooperation, the parties discussed the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding in the near future.
Later, Karen Zadoyan and Marat Atovmyan had working meetings with Mr. Mak Wai-keung, Director of (Operations) Investigation Department (Government Sector) of the Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption, Mr. CHOI Shu Keung, Director of Investigation (Private Sector), Ms YIM Hau Wan, Evalina, Assistant Director on Community Relations Department
Prior to the above mentioned meetings, the representatives of the Armenian delegation also had a meeting with Deputy Director of Hong Kong International Anti-Corruption Academy (International Training) Mr. CHAN Cheuk-hay, Eric.
During the meetings, the parties discussed the details of possible future cooperation.
Please note the 8th International Symposium of the Hong Kong Independent Anti-Corruption Commission (ICAC), which is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Commission, has kicked off on 22 May. The Symposium is co-organized by the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) and the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) of Hong Kong, China. 500 participants from 60 countries are present at the Symposium.
