Karen Zadoyan and Marat Atovmyan met with the Delegation led by the Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission
Within the framework of the 8th International Symposium of Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), Mr. Karen Zadoyan, member of the Anti-Corruption Policy Council, Coordinator of the Secretariat of CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of the RA, President of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association (ALA), and Mr. Marat Atovmyan, Anti-Corruption Expert of the Coalition, Vice-President of the ALA met with the delegation led by Mr. Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Azam bin Baki, the Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Azam bin Baki, Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, presented the scope, results and importance of international cooperation of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. The Chief Commissioner of MACC expressed readiness to cooperate with the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia, to implement need-based training programs for the representatives of the anti-corruption institutional system and specialized CSOs of Armenia within the framework of cooperation, as well as to organize other mutual educational visits.
After that, the ALA President presented the main activities of the Anti-Corruption Policy Council, the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenian and the Armenian Lawyers’ Association; the course of anti-corruption reforms implemented in Armenia and the system of anti-corruption institutional bodies.
Karen Zadoyan also presented the problems of anti-corruption institutional bodies and the scope of possible cooperation with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. Further, Marat Atovmyan presented the possible mechanisms for the cooperation, including the organization of need-based educational visits and courses for representatives of Armenia’s anti-corruption institutional bodies and specialized Civil Society organizations, as well as implementation of other joint anti-corruption programs.
The parties discussed other issues of bilateral interest as well. In order to put the bilateral cooperation on a systemic basis, the parties agreed to start preparations for the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding in the near future. The parties discussed issues related to the organization of a study visit of two representatives of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to the Republic of Armenia as well.

Please note the 8th International Symposium of the Hong Kong Independent Anti-Corruption Commission (ICAC), which is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Commission, has kicked off on 22 May. The Symposium is co-organized by the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) and the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) of Hong Kong, China. 500 participants from 60 countries are present at the Symposium.
