It is Necessary to amend and adopt the RA Law on Legal Assistance in Criminal Cases: Arnold Vardanyan

The Presentation of the Alternative Public Monitoring of the Actions of the 4th Anti-Corruption Strategy of the RA to be performed in 2022 took place.

Anti-Corruption Expert of the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia, Lawyer Mr. Arnold Vardanyan, presented the results and recommendations of monitoring on combating corruption.

“With the involvement of international experts, it is necessary to organize special trainings for investigators, prosecutors and judges dealing with certain crimes of corruption, including illicit enrichment; develop guidelines on the methodology for investigating certain crimes, and ensure their continuous professional development,” he mentioned among the recommendations identified as a result of monitoring.

According to him, it is necessary to amend and adopt the RA Law On Legal Assistance in Criminal Cases, which provides opportunities for international cooperation in corruption cases, which will provide an opportunity for criminal prosecution bodies to cooperate more effectively with international structures in order to find and prosecute persons accused of committing alleged crimes of a corruption nature.

“Armenian Lawyers’ Association” NGO, “Europe in Law Association” NGO, the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia, in cooperation with the CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia, have carried out the alternative public monitoring of the Actions of the Republic of Armenia Anti-Corruption Strategy and its Implementation Action Plan for 2019-2022 to be performed in 2022.

This, among other things, includes, collecting information on the progress of implementing the Strategy’s Action Plans using qualitative and quantitative methods.

The monitoring report was presented on 11 May.
