Corruption Prevention in Local Self-Government Bodies – Integrity Islands: The Distance Learning Course of the ACSYL was held

On 23 April, 2020, the regular distance learning course of the 5th stream of the Anti-Corruption School for Young Leaders took place. The topic of the course was “Corruption Prevention in Local Self-Government Bodies – Integrity Islands.” Mr. Artyom Mesropyan, Lawyer/Coordinator of the CSO Development Programs of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association presented the topic.

The lecturer presented the general characteristics of the local self-government bodies in the Republic of Armenia, as well as the assessment of the process carried out by the international organizations in the process of the local self-government in the Republic of Armenia from the point of view of Good Governance.

He spoke about the need to introduce anti-corruption strategy in local self-governments and presented the main stages of design and the process of their implementation.

Speaking about the corruption risks in local self-governments, the Expert especially noted the following target areas: provision of services, human resource management, provision of community property, and provision of permits.
