ALA participated in the “High-Level Meeting of Anti-Corruption Decision-Makers in Eastern Europe and Central Asia”
Representative of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association and CSO Anti-Corruption Coalition of Armenia, Mariam Zadoyan attended the “High-Level Meeting of Anti-Corruption Decision-Makers in Eastern Europe and Central Asia” on 16 November and the “27th Meeting of the ACN Steering Group” on 17 November, organized by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development Anti-Corruption Network for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (OECD ACN), in Paris, France. These meetings convened Ministers, Heads of Anti-Corruption and Law-Enforcement Agencies and other top anti-corruption decision-makers from the Eastern Europe and Central Asia region, members of the OECD Working Group on Bribery, representatives of international organisations, civil society and business organisations.
Ms. Zadoyan highlighted the Coalition’s role in contributing to the monitoring of the commitments of the Republic of Armenia under the OECD ACN Istanbul Anti-Corruption Action Plan (IAP), as well as the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), Open Government Partnership (OGP) and the RA Anti-Corruption Strategies through the development of shadow/parallel reports. Highly appreciating the newly developed Monitoring Assessment Framework, the ALA representative emphasized the Coalition’s willingness to continue its contribution to the IAP 5th Round of monitoring.
Additionally, given the strategic directions of the OECD ACN 2023-2026 Work Programme, the ALA delegate pointed out the organization’s work in the promotion of business integrity in Armenia, including the creation and management of the unique whistleblowing tool in the business sector, Bizprotect.
The sessions provided an opportunity to discuss achievements and challenges in the fight against corruption in the region, identify strategic directions for future work, and confirm countries’ commitment to cleaning Eastern Europe and Central Asia of corruption.
